Smiles For Life: Our Mission This 2023!

By | Children's charities, Crown Council, Humanitarian Trips

The Smiles For Life Foundation is eager to ring in 2023, just like most! However, we know that not everyone around the world has the opportunity to celebrate. Many people in developing nations still need the help of the Crown Council. So, while we are in a celebratory mood, our mission never rests. We want to create a web of empathy between dentists, patients, and charity recipients, and this is something we work on every day of the year.

How do we do this? It’s simple in theory, though complicated in execution. Every year, between the months of March and June, dentist donate their whitening services. Instead of paying for the services, the patients give a donation to Smiles For Life. We go on to use this money to fund humanitarian trips to developing countries to bring them much needed dental health services.

Just like that, your whiter, brighter smile can travel around the world and help somebody else; it is the first step in a chain reaction of empathy that benefits patient, dentist, and beneficiary alike.

This new year, we want to recruit more practices into our alliance. And it’s the perfect time to join up! With only a few months left until the process starts again, it is the perfect time to contact Smiles For Life and become a team member in this charitable endeavor. If you’re a dental practice that wants to become a community leader and contribute to a better world, we are ready to help you succeed!

So far, Smiles For Life has raised more than $46 million for charitable causes. Whether you want to get involved as a patient, practice, or business, now is the perfect time to start looking into it! During the lull between donation drives, we are busy training our new recruits with top-of-the-line marketing materials and setting them up on our networks so they can be community leaders.

Smiles For Life: The Countdown Has Begun

By | Children's charities, Crown Council, Humanitarian Trips, Smiles For Life campaign

The Crown Council’s Smiles For Life campaign is gearing up to start, and from March-June, thousands of selfless dentists in the United States and Canada will donate their time and talent to whiten the smiles of their patients for free. The patients, in turn, will make a charitable donation to Smiles For Life.

This incredible web of social giving is made possible by all our dental practices, who are willing, year after year, to do good for the community that supports them. So, if you’re already a contributing member of this wonderful campaign, it’s time to get your dental practice team ready! The countdown is on.

If you’re not yet part of Smiles for Life, you might be wondering what it entails. In this article, you can find a thorough explanation of the role Smiles for Life plays in the dental community, as well as how it can benefit you as a dental professional.

What is Smiles for Life?

As previously stated, the Smiles for Life campaign is geared toward charitable donations on behalf of patient and dentist alike. The dental professionals donate their time, while the patients monetary contributions help fund the campaign.

But where do those funds go? This is the special part. Smiles for Life funds go toward helping children in need.  So far, the campaign has raised more than forty million dollars to support organizations like the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation, Feed the Children, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and the Ronald McDonald House, among many others.

In addition to this, the Smiles for Life Foundation plans and sponsors four Humanitarian Trips each year. Two trips are to the Dominican Republic (March and November) and two trips are to the Eastern Highland of Guatemala (March and September). About 200 Crown Council dentists, their team and family members participate in these experiences each year.

How Can it Benefit My Practice?

If you’re a dental professional leading a practice, you can foster a sense of trust and empathy with your patients through Smiles For Life. The campaign provides an opportunity for organic social outreach, and can cement you as a leader of your community in more ways than one.

More and more, newer generations of patients are looking to spend their hard-earned income on services that are not only practical and affordable, but that also come bundled with a social conscience.

Joining Smiles For Life is not only the right thing to do, but it can also be immensely helpful in growing your business and its influence. The campaign runs each year from from March through June. Smiles For Life: An Indescribable Experience

By | Children's charities, Crown Council, Humanitarian Trips, Smiles For Life campaign

Back in the 1990s someone had a stroke of genius, and created Smiles For Life.

Smiles For Life is the charitable arm of The Crown Council. Since it began in 1997 it has raised more than forty million dollars to benefit children’s charities all over the world.

Its flagship event is the Smiles For Life Campaign, which runs each year from March 1 through June. With the help of Ultradent, the makers of dental products like Opalescence™ Boost™, dentists in the United States and Canada whiten the teeth of their patients. The proceeds go to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, and many other charities.

Smiles For Life also sponsors humanitarian trips to developing countries like The Dominican Republic. “I guess the question is, why would somebody do something like this?” said one dentist during a visit there in 2017. “I believe that we’re all given certain gifts. And I think it’s important, whatever your gift is, to share it and participate and contribute.”

“It’s an experience that’s really indescribable,” another dentist added. “You can’t put words to it.”

Sharing your dentistry gifts can be as simple as taking part in the Smiles For Life teeth whitening campaign. Find out how you can! Please visit the Smiles For Life Facebook page to help spread the word!

Something We Can Share

By | Children's charities, Humanitarian Trips, Tooth Whitening

Since its inception, Smiles for Life has raised more than forty million dollars through its teeth whitening fundraiser. Every last penny of goes to the Smiles for Life Foundation, which aids children’s charities throughout the world. Have you ever wondered how it’s spent?

Some of it has supported field work in the Dominican Republic, where teams of volunteer dentists travel to work on the teeth of the people living there. Smiles for Life partnered with the humanitarian organization Esperanza on a trip in early 2018. But dental team volunteers say that simply focusing on the teeth they fix is missing the point.

“It’s not just a service,” one of them said. “It’s providing love, and a connection to the people.”

Nearly half of the people in the Dominican Republic lives on less than four dollars a day. Along with Esperanza, the goal of Smiles for Life volunteers is restoring hope and dignity.

“It’s about doing what you can with what you’ve got, and doing good,” a Smiles for Life volunteer said, during the 2018 visit. “So we’re extremely grateful to be here. And honestly, it’s been one of the best experiences of my life. And we’re excited to continue to contribute and to participate in these trips.”

“The most rewarding part about what we do here is the smiles on the faces of the people that look in the mirror when we finish their dental work,” said another. “It honestly is not about the teeth.”

The teeth whitening campaign takes place every year from March through June. Participating dental practices in the United States and Canada, all of them Crown Council members, donate their services to teeth whitening patients. Supplies for the campaign are donated by longtime Smiles for Life supporter Ultradent, the maker of Opalescence teeth whitening gels.

“It’s really not about how many teeth you fix in a day,” one of the Dominican Republic volunteers reflected. “It’s about the people that you put your arm around, and let them know that we’re all God’s children. And the reason why we’re here is because we have something that we can share.”
