We won’t live in a perfect world – far from it. And it’s up to us, as individuals, to do what we can to make it a better place, even in the smallest ways. The Smiles for Life Foundation is one such way.
Smiles for Life is the charitable arm of the Crown Council, an organization of dental professionals in the United States and Canada. Smiles for Life is an annual campaign to raise money for children’s charities. Hundreds of dental practices throughout North America participate in the campaign every year from March until June, raising funds for seriously ill, underprivileged, and disabled kids.
Every penny of the money that is raised goes to the Smiles for Life Foundation. Participating dental practices offer professional teeth whitening to their patients, using Ultradent Products . Ultradent makes Boost in-office teeth whitening and Opalescence take-home trays, and donates all of the necessary supplies.
Patients who get the teeth whitening write out a check directly to Smiles for Life. Half of their donation go to local charities and the rest is distributed to children’s charities that have been approved by the Crown Council. These include the Garth Books Teammates for Kids Foundation and the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Since 1998, the event has raised more than forty million dollars.
