The Smiles For Life campaign is one of the most successful and long-lasting charitable campaigns in all of dentistry, and the 2021 edition is well underway.
From now through June, participating dentists will be whitening teeth for charity. The money they raise benefits children’s charities, and helps kids all over the world. Since it began more than twenty years ago, Smiles For Life has raised nearly forty-five million dollars.
It started in 1998 with the efforts of just one dentist, who began donating the proceeds from a special teeth whitening campaign to children’s charities. “We now have made charitable contributions to well over seven hundred different, individual children’s charities,” says Crown Council Managing Director Greg Anderson, “and have become a force for doing good in hundreds of dental practices each year.”
The campaign works like this: participating dentists throughout the United States and Canada offer special teeth whitening services from March through the end of June. Instead of paying the dentist, patients make a donation to the Smiles For Life Foundation. 100% of the proceeds go to participating children’s charities, including St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House, and many others.
