If you’re a veteran, let this be a reminder. If you’re a beginner, then consider it a primer. Smiles for Life transforms smiles and changes lives. Hence, the name! But how exactly do they do this?

Every March-June, Smiles for Life casts a web of empathy that connects dentists, patients, and society. It consists of three easy steps that all our dental practices follow. They prepare all year with materials provided by the Crown Council, and come this exciting three-month period, they get to work!

  1. A dentist or dental practice offers tooth whitening services for free.
  2. The patient then makes a donation to Smiles for Life.
  3. Smiles for Life distributes these donations with the help of trusted charities like St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation.

That’s not all! Smiles for Life donations also go towards funding healthcare-based trips to developing nations, wherein teams of dentists and dental professionals donate their time and effort to bring smiles to those who need it most.

This is our last month, which means our dentists have been hard at work providing their top-of-the-line whitening services for almost 90 days! If you’re a dental practice and you want to get involved, create a free account and learn more today. You’re right on time to start studying up for next year! If you’re a patient and want to find out whether your dentist is a member of the Smiles for Life campaign, use our custom search to find participating practices.

If you haven’t yet heard, the Crown Council’s Smiles for Life Foundation has raised over $46,321,933 since 1998 in its quest to fund children’s charities worldwide. How is this amount possible? It’s all thanks to Smiles for Life’s web of empathy, which stretches far and wide across the United States and recruits dentists of all walks of life to donate their work.

Every March-June, dentists who are members of our Smiles for Life group will whiten their patients teeth for free. The patient, in turn, will donate to the Smiles for Life Foundation. Smiles for Life shares these resources with its sister charities, including St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation.

But it doesn’t stop there! In an effort to keep the web of empathy large, Smiles for Life transcends borders. The funds are often put toward dental health trips to developing countries. The children there need as much dental help as the children here, but they often cannot afford it. Enter the Crown Council, who fund trips with dental professionals and their teams, so that we can increase awareness of good dental health in every corner of the map!

With the campaign coming to an end next month, there’s never been a better time to learn about the Smiles for Life. Whether you’re a dental practice that is interested in the public relations and charity benefits that Smiles for Life can bring, or you’re a dental professional who is just trying to tip the worldwide scales toward good, now’s your chance! We are ready to team up with you!

Smiles For Life: The Countdown Has Begun

By | Children's charities, Crown Council, Humanitarian Trips, Smiles For Life campaign

The Crown Council’s Smiles For Life campaign is gearing up to start, and from March-June, thousands of selfless dentists in the United States and Canada will donate their time and talent to whiten the smiles of their patients for free. The patients, in turn, will make a charitable donation to Smiles For Life.

This incredible web of social giving is made possible by all our dental practices, who are willing, year after year, to do good for the community that supports them. So, if you’re already a contributing member of this wonderful campaign, it’s time to get your dental practice team ready! The countdown is on.

If you’re not yet part of Smiles for Life, you might be wondering what it entails. In this article, you can find a thorough explanation of the role Smiles for Life plays in the dental community, as well as how it can benefit you as a dental professional.

What is Smiles for Life?

As previously stated, the Smiles for Life campaign is geared toward charitable donations on behalf of patient and dentist alike. The dental professionals donate their time, while the patients monetary contributions help fund the campaign.

But where do those funds go? This is the special part. Smiles for Life funds go toward helping children in need.  So far, the campaign has raised more than forty million dollars to support organizations like the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation, Feed the Children, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and the Ronald McDonald House, among many others.

In addition to this, the Smiles for Life Foundation plans and sponsors four Humanitarian Trips each year. Two trips are to the Dominican Republic (March and November) and two trips are to the Eastern Highland of Guatemala (March and September). About 200 Crown Council dentists, their team and family members participate in these experiences each year.

How Can it Benefit My Practice?

If you’re a dental professional leading a practice, you can foster a sense of trust and empathy with your patients through Smiles For Life. The campaign provides an opportunity for organic social outreach, and can cement you as a leader of your community in more ways than one.

More and more, newer generations of patients are looking to spend their hard-earned income on services that are not only practical and affordable, but that also come bundled with a social conscience.

Joining Smiles For Life is not only the right thing to do, but it can also be immensely helpful in growing your business and its influence. The campaign runs each year from from March through June. Smiles for Life: Transforming Smiles and Improving Lives

By | Children's charities, Crown Council, Smiles For Life campaign

For more than 20 years, the Smiles for Life Foundation has been improving lives in more ways than one. Every March-June, a passionate group of Crown Council dentists and dental professionals whiten patient’s smiles for free. The patients donate to a charitable cause, further expanding the web of empathy and service that Smiles for Life thrives on. This has resulted in Smiles for Life donating to over 700 individual children’s charities. As co-founder Steve Anderson states:

“Programs like Smiles for Life do a lot of good. For the practice, for the team, for the patients who participate, and especially for the people and the programs that benefit from those charitable dollars.”

What he’s referring to, particularly in that last sentence, are Smiles for Life’s many social projects. The organization has sponsored humanitarian trips to developing nations like Dominican Republic, making sure to spread the joy of a beautiful smile as far and wide as possible. This has resulted in changed smiles and transformed lives.

By creating and surrounding your clinic or dental practice with a thriving, grateful community, you are more likely to see patients walk through the door. In this new advertising market, customers no longer simply want products and services that are accessible and effective. They also want to know that, while they’re sitting in the chair and working on their own appearance or health, they are also helping others around them. Often, patients prioritize businesses that focus on the charitable arm of their endeavors.

This is exactly what the Crown Council’s Smiles for Life charity stands for: doing good. The organization offers partners a chance at both strengthening their community bonds, and attracting new customers to their business. Smiles for Life works with St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation, and many other organizations.

Smiles For Life: Participate!

By | Children's charities, Crown Council, Smiles For Life campaign

The Crown Council’s Smiles For Life children’s charity has raised many millions of dollars in the more than two decades it has been active. We usually describe the distribution of that money in general terms: it goes to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, and Garth Brooks’ Teammates for Kids, among others.

But the money also helps to support humanitarian trips to developing countries like the Dominican Republic. Participating dentists volunteer their skills to help improve the dental health of the people living there.

One of the dentists who took part described it this way: “It’s important, whatever your gift is, to share it, and participate, and contribute.”

Smiles For Life raises money through its annual Smiles For Life teeth whitening campaign. From March through June, dentists across the United States and Canada whiten the teeth of their patients. Instead of paying the dentist, though, the patients make a contribution to Smiles For Life, which in turn distributes the money to worthy children’s charities.

Smiles For Life: An Indescribable Experience

By | Children's charities, Crown Council, Humanitarian Trips, Smiles For Life campaign

Back in the 1990s someone had a stroke of genius, and created Smiles For Life.

Smiles For Life is the charitable arm of The Crown Council. Since it began in 1997 it has raised more than forty million dollars to benefit children’s charities all over the world.

Its flagship event is the Smiles For Life Campaign, which runs each year from March 1 through June. With the help of Ultradent, the makers of dental products like Opalescence™ Boost™, dentists in the United States and Canada whiten the teeth of their patients. The proceeds go to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, and many other charities.

Smiles For Life also sponsors humanitarian trips to developing countries like The Dominican Republic. “I guess the question is, why would somebody do something like this?” said one dentist during a visit there in 2017. “I believe that we’re all given certain gifts. And I think it’s important, whatever your gift is, to share it and participate and contribute.”

“It’s an experience that’s really indescribable,” another dentist added. “You can’t put words to it.”

Sharing your dentistry gifts can be as simple as taking part in the Smiles For Life teeth whitening campaign. Find out how you can! Please visit the Smiles For Life Facebook page to help spread the word!

Smiles For Life: A Resounding Success!

By | Uncategorized

The annual Smiles For Life campaign has been a resounding success since it launched more than twenty years ago. To date, it has raised more than forty million dollars, and all of it goes to children’s charities.

The secret to its success really is no secret. Established by the Crown Council, hundreds of dentists throughout the United States and Canada take part each year. From March through June they whiten the teeth of patients. Rather than pay the dentist, these patients donate to Smiles For Life.

Their donations support such worthy organizations as Feed the Children, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and the Ronald McDonald House, to name just a few. Kids who are seriously ill, disabled, and underprivileged benefit.

The more dentists who paraticipate in Smiles For Life, of course, the greater its success. “Imagine if every practice recommended the Smiles For Life campaign to just one other practice!” said Crown Council Managing Director Greg Anderson. “We could double the amount of money we raise in a year if everybody just recommended just one more practice.”

Smiles For Life Helps Your Practice Grow!

By | Children's charities, Crown Council, Smiles For Life campaign

The Smiles For Life campaign is focused primarily on helping kids in need. Thousands of dentists in the United States and Canada take part every year, donating their time and talent to whiten the smiles of their patients for free. The patients, in turn, make a charitable donation to Smiles For Life.

That is as it should be. But when dentists are doing it right, their Smiles For Life patients can become patients for life.

“If you’re not careful, you’ll be tempted to treat Smiles For Life patients like they’re different from a new patient,” says Smiles For Life co-founder Steven J.Anderson.

That, he says, can be a trap. He recommends treating these patients like you expect them to be there for the long haul. Get to know each one, along with their dental health goals. Afterward, invite them to post pictures of their new, whitened smiles to social media, and to tag your office.

These are just a few of his suggestions. The bottom line? “Make a friend, and make a patient for life.”

The best thing about the Smiles For Life campaign is that it helps kids in need. It has raised more than forty million dollars and supports the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation, Feed the Children, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House, and many others.
